He decided that he wasn't going to wait 12 more hours for his scheduled c-section, but he did at least wait long enough to share his birthday with his Uncle Karl. Tuesday night I was putting Lily to sleep at about 10:30. I sat up in the bed and felt what I thought was a huge punch from the little man, then I felt a pop and then I felt the need to go to the bathroom. On my way to the bathroom my water broke. I told Shane what happened and just saw him bolt to the bedroom only to come back fully dressed a few minutes later as I was sitting on the toilet (sorry for the graphic detail, but stuff just kept gushing out!). He looked at me like "what are you waiting for, lets go to the hospital." I told him to calm down, I still needed to pack some stuff, get Lily to sleep and call the hospital to tell them we were coming. By the time we got to the hospital my contractions were minutes apart. They asked me if I was going to try to deliver naturally, but after examining me and only being 3 cm I said no way. Lets get this out as long as it is after midnight!
At this time I was asking Shane if he was still a boy.

My guys!

1st bath. He still loves his baths (unlike his big sister)

I am jealous of how tight the nurses can get the swaddle. We kept calling in the nurses to swaddle him. I do a pretty good one now, but still not as good as them!

The Last 4 Years

Lily has been sick the last couple of days and today as she is cuddled up next to me falling asleep with me holding her I couldn't help getting teary thinking that in two weeks our little family of 3 will be 4. I wanted to hold her as close as possible the whole time she napped, to let it soak in to her all the love I have felt being her mom for the past 4 years. And to try and let her know that will never change. I might be a complete basket case the next month so please forgive me sweet pea! She has been more clingy the past couple of weeks. I am not sure if she senses the humongous change that is coming or if it is something else. She always wants to sit on my lap even though there isn't that much lap to sit on right now. She always reminds us to give her kisses when we leave and she has not been stingy with the hugs, kisses or "I love yous". I really hope that doesn't change. She seems excited about the baby. She had a lot of fun helping getting the room together and going through all the clothes. She has come with me to every appointment and helps the nurse listen to the heartbeat and measure my belly. I am so excited to meet this new little guy and introduce her to him. My brother and sister are my best friends and I can only hope these two will have that as well.

We love you so much Lily. I can't even imagine life without you.

P.S. Totally crying right now. Hopefully Shane won't come out and see me (he would make so much fun of me!)

4!

How has 4 years passed already???? I can't believe she is 4.

We spent the morning decorating her cake. She was very proud of the little cake she got to decorate.
The day before her birthday we went to the M&M factory on the strip and picked out our rainbow colors for decorations. I saw this in Martha Stewart and thought I could definitely pull it off. Lily liked it and the day after her birthday asked if we could make a 5 cake.

My big 4 year old!!!

We spent her birthday dinner at Chucky Cheese's with friends and cousins. She had a blast playing all the games and collecting tickets.

She really liked this Chucky. The real one that came out to sing her happy birthday, not so much!

Playing Ski Ball with Daddy.

Riding in the Kentucky Derby!

Not liking all the noise that came with Chucky singing to her. Besides this she was pretty happy. We collected over 1000 tickets to trade in for a fairy doll.
Some things Lily is doing now that she is 4 (both good and bad!):
1. Loves to practice her letters and asks how everything is spelled. She likes to play on the computer and spell all the words she knows - Mom, Dad, Lily, Stop and many others. She knows all the sounds the letters make too.
2. She can count to 40 without help
3. For some reason out of the blue she hates brushing her teeth. This results in a constant struggle to brush them twice a day.
4. She is obsessed with Strawberry Shortcake dolls
5. She likes to help in the kitchen especially when the mixer comes out. She likes to pour in all the ingredients.
6. She gives great hugs and kisses and tells us she loves us all the time.
7. She is excited for her little brother to come
8. For some reason she likes to stick things up her nose.
9. She has developed some really weird fears - birds and little dogs are a couple of them.
10. She always tells me she doesn't want to go to preschool but once she is there she has a good time.
I could go on for ever and ever about her. She is 4! we love her and wouldn't trade her in for anything!

Vegas!

We went to Vegas for Lily's 4th birthday (different post) and spent some time with friends, family and cats. Lily loved my brother's cats. She chased them, asked them how their day was and fed them lots of treats! The trip was pretty uneventful compared to past Vegas trips. We did get to see the Packers win the Super Bowl as we were surrounded by Steelers fans. We didn't win any money and no hair was set ablaze.

Ozzie, Albert and Georgia. Georgia was Lily's fav
always trying to feed them and get them to sit.
Went to the Shark reef at the Mandalay Bay. Very cool.

Standing in front of all the sharks.

And on the treasure chests. Of all the cool fish to look at she spent the most time climbing on the treasure chests.

Loving her daddy!

And this little guy. Kruze is too cute and loves to cuddle with me.

Haircut

A few weeks ago I took Lily in for a very much needed haircut. I have been putting it off for about 4 months. Daily brushing of the hair has been a constant struggle, but on the other hand I liked it long because when it was brushed and "styled" it was cute. The daily tears won out and after constant threats of "if you don't let me brush it I am cutting it off!" I finally made an appointment. I would have had them give her a cute little bob, but she wasn't used to sitting still in the chair so we just did a straight cut. Maybe next time.
before....
Morning of....Wait for it.....

After!!!! we got about 4 inches cut off. We went through 2 packs of fruit snacks, a sucker, a basket of toys and a Mickey Mouse movie for her to sit still and allow the girl to cut it. Not as bad as I expected. Once she was done she asked if it would turn back to long again like Rapunzel. It looks a little crooked in this pic but it isn't. Daily brushing has gotten better, but it is still a work in progress. She is definitely not a girly girl (not that I ever thought she would be considering her aunt and I can barely figure out how to put on makeup).

Merry Christmas!

We had a great Christmas just the three of us. Nothing too exciting happened. No reindeer stuck in a tree branch, no Santa passed out on the couch from exhaustion.

Lily left a note to Santa with her cookies and carrot.
They were a welcomed snack for the big guy and his reindeer

The loot!

1st glance

Going through the stocking was tough. The dollhouse was a little more exciting.

getting the hang of the stocking thing.

Santa sure fits a lot in there!

PILLOW PET!

MOON DOUGH!

What next?

RAPUNZEL!

NEW SLIPPERS!
All very exciting. Can't wait for next year!

3 Going on 4

3 going on 4....This kinda sums us up. Lily will be 4 in February, which is unbelievable as it is, and in the spring our fam of 3 will be 4. Shane and I will both be turning 34. So I guess it is safe to say that 3 and 4 are going to be our lucky numbers in 2011. It is just hitting me that I will have another little one in about 4 months! To be honest I am a lot more scared this time. I am not scared of the baby necessarily, we can't wait to meet him/her, but of the whole process of getting him/her here. Do I opt for a planned C-Section or do I try for a Vbac? Will I have trouble breastfeeding again? Will Lily get enough attention and love? Will I cry every time Shane looks at me funny because I haven't gotten enough sleep? Will Ringo run away because we brought another one of those baby thingys home again? Deep breaths...we will get through it!
I am feeling a lot of kicks these days. Last night Shane was able to feel it for the first time. I have to say it is one of the coolest feelings in the world and what I miss most when the baby is born. I tried to get Lily to feel some kicks this morning but she didn't have enough patience and was laughing at my belly instead. Which by the way is HUGE already and I still have 4 months to go. There are also a couple things a bit north of the belly that are a little out of control. I didn't think they could get any bigger!
I haven't been very good at taking pictures lately. We have had snow, turkey day, Ringo had to wear a cone on his head for a while, and the cutest little 10 month old came to visit and the three pictures in this post are all I have worth showing. Pathetic!

She loved the snow! Would have stayed out for hours. Loved throwing snowballs and getting snowballs thrown at her. Ringo was pretty funny also scooping up the snow with the cone around his head. I don't think he thought it was as funny as I did though.
